বাক্যের একটি শব্দের সঙ্গে আরেকটি শব্দের সম্পর্ক স্থাপনের জন্য শব্দগুলোর সঙ্গে কিছু শব্দাংশ যুক্ত করতে হয়। এই শব্দাংশগুলোকে বলা হয় বিভক্তি।

উপরের বাক্যটিতে কোন শব্দের সঙ্গে বিভক্তি যুক্ত করা হয়নি। ফলে বাক্যের শব্দগুলোর মধ্যে কোন সম্পর্ক সৃষ্টি হয়নি, এবং এগুলো বাক্যও হয়ে উঠতে পারেনি। এখন শিশু’র সঙ্গে কে বিভক্তি আর দেখা’র সঙ্গে চ্ছেন’ বিভক্তি যোগ করলে বাক্যটি হবে-

মা শিশুকে চাঁদ দেখাচ্ছেন।

অর্থাৎ, শব্দগুলোর মধ্যে পারস্পরিক সম্পর্ক সৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে একটি বাক্য সম্পূর্ণ হলো এবং এখন আর এগুলো শব্দ নয়, এগুলো প্রত্যেকটি একেকটি পদ।

শব্দের সঙ্গে বিভক্তি যুক্ত হলে তখন সেগুলোকে বলা হয় পদ। বাক্যে বিভক্তি ছাড়া কোন পদ থাকে না বলে ধরা হয়। তাই কোন শব্দে কোন বিভক্তি যোগ করার প্রয়োজন না হলেও ধরে নেয়া হয় তার সঙ্গে একটি বিভক্তি যুক্ত হয়েছে। এবং এই বিভক্তিটিকে বলা হয় শূণ্য বিভক্তি। উপরের বাক্যটিতে ‘মা’ ও ‘চাঁদ’ শব্দদুটির সঙ্গে কোন বিভক্তি যোগ করার প্রয়োজন হয়নি। তাই ধরে নিতে হবে এই শব্দদুটির সঙ্গে শূণ্য বিভক্তি যোগ হয়ে এগুলো বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে, এবং এই দুটিও এখন পদ।

মৌলিক বাংলা শব্দ বিভক্তিগুলো হলো- শূণ্য বিভক্তি (০), এ, য়, তে, কে, রে, র(এর)। তবে এছাড়াও কিছু কিছু অব্যয় শব্দ কারক সম্বন্ধ নির্ণয়ের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। এগুলো হলো- দ্বারা, দিয়া, কর্তৃক, হতে, থেকে, চেয়ে, ইত্যাদি।

• বিভক্তির নাম লেখার সময় কখনো সংক্ষিপ্ত আকারে লেখা যাবে না। অর্থাৎ দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তিকে কখনোই ২য়া বিভক্তি লেখা যাবে না।
• বিভক্তির তালিকাটি ভালোভাবে আত্মস্থ করতে হবে, প্রয়োজন হলে মুখস্থ করতে হবে।

বাক্যের ক্রিয়াপদের সঙ্গে নামপদের সম্পর্ককে কারক বলে। অর্থাৎ, বাক্যের ক্রিয়াপদের সঙ্গে অন্যান্য পদের যে সম্পর্ক, তাকে কারক বলে।

ক্রিয়াকে ‘কে/ কারা’ দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায়, সেটিই কর্তৃকারক। (কর্মবাচ্য ও ভাববাচ্যের বাক্যে এই নিয়ম খাটবে না। সেক্ষেত্রে একটু সাবধানতা অবলম্বন করতে হবে।)

যাকে অবলম্বন করে কর্তা ক্রিয়া সম্পাদন করে, তাকে ক্রিয়ার কর্ম বা কর্মকারক বলে।

ক্রিয়াকে ‘কী/ কাকে’ দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায়, সেটিই কর্মকারক।

বাক্যে দুইটি কর্ম থাকলে বস্ত্তবাচক কর্মটিকে প্রধান বা মুখ্য কর্ম ও ব্যক্তিবাচক কর্মটিকে গৌণ কর্ম বলে। তবে দুইটি একই ধরনের কর্ম থাকলে প্রথম কর্মটিকে উদ্দেশ্য কর্ম ও দ্বিতীয়টিকে বিধেয় কর্ম বলে। যেমন- ‘দুধকে মোরা দুগ্ধ বলি, হলুদকে বলি হরিদ্রা’। এখানে ‘দুধ’ ও ‘হলুদ’ উদ্দেশ্য কর্ম, ‘দুগ্ধ’ ও ‘হরিদ্রা’ বিধেয় কর্ম।

কর্তা নিজে কাজ না করে কর্মকে দিয়ে কাজ করিয়ে নিলে তাকে প্রযোজক ক্রিয়ার কর্ম বলে।

ক্রিয়াপদ ও কর্মপদ একই ধাতু থেকে গঠিত হলে তাকে সমধাতুজ কর্ম বলে। [ক্রিয়াপদ]

উদাহরণ-

বাবা আমাকে একটি ল্যাপটপ কিনে দিয়েছেন। (কাকে দিয়েছেন? আমাকে। কী দিয়েছেন? ল্যাপটপ) : আমাকে- কর্মকারকে দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তি (গৌণ কর্ম), ল্যাপটপ- কর্মকারকে শূণ্য বিভক্তি (মুখ্য কর্ম)

ডাক্তার ডাক। (কাকে ডাক?)                                  : কর্মকারকে শূণ্য বিভক্তি

আমাকে একটা বই দাও। (কাকে দাও? আমাকে। কী দাও? বই)    : আমাকে- কর্মকারকে দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তি (গৌণ কর্ম), বই- কর্মকারকে দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তি (মুখ্য কর্ম)

আমারে তুমি করিবে ত্রাণ, এ নহে মোর প্রার্থণা। (কাকে করিবে? আমারে) : কর্মকারকে দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তি

তোমার দেখা নাই। (কার দেখা? তোমার)                           : কর্মকারকে ষষ্ঠী বিভক্তি

জিজ্ঞাসিবে জনে জনে। (কাকে জিজ্ঞাসিবে? জনে জনে)             : কর্মকারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

করণ কারক

করণ শব্দের অর্থ যন্ত্র, সহায়ক বা উপায়।

যে উপাদান বা উপায়ে ক্রিয়া সম্পাদন করা হয়, তাকে করণ কারক বলে।

ক্রিয়াকে ‘কী দিয়ে/ কী উপায়ে’ দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায়, তাই করণ কারক।

উদাহরণ-

পিয়াল কলম দিয়ে লিখছে। (কী দিয়ে লেখে? কলম দিয়ে)          :করণ কারকে তৃতীয়া বিভক্তি

কীর্তিমান হয় সাধনায়। (কী উপায়ে হয়? সাধনায়)          : করণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

ডাকাতেরা গৃহকর্তার মাথায় লাঠি মেরেছে। (কী দিয়ে মেরেছে? গুলি): করণ কারকে শূণ্য বিভক্তি

লাঙ্গল দিয়ে জমি চাষ করা হয়। (কী দিয়ে চাষ করা হয়? লাঙ্গল দিয়ে): করণ কারকে তৃতীয়া বিভক্তি

মন দিয়ে পড়াশুনা কর। (কী উপায়ে/ দিয়ে কর? মন দিয়ে)        :করণ কারকে তৃতীয়া বিভক্তি

ফুলে ফুলে ঘর ভরেছে। (কী দিয়ে ভরেছে? ফুলে ফুলে)             : করণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

শিকারি বিড়াল গোঁফে চেনা যায়। (কী দিয়ে/ উপায়ে চেনা যায়? গোঁফে): করণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

সাধনায় সব হয়। (কী উপায়ে সব হয়? সাধনায়)                   : করণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

এ সুতায় কাপড় হয় না। (কী দিয়ে হয় না? সুতায়)                 : করণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

সম্প্রদান কারক

যাকে স্বত্ব ত্যাগ করে কিছু দেয়া হয়, তাকে সম্প্রদান কারক বলে।

‘কাকে দান করা হল’ প্রশ্নের উত্তরই হলো সম্প্রদান কারক।

সম্প্রদান কারকের নিয়ম অন্যান্য নিয়মের মতোই সংস্কৃত ব্যাকরণ থেকেই এসেছে। তবে অনেক বাংলা ব্যাকরণবিদ/ বৈয়াকরণ একে আলাদা কোন কারক হিসেবে স্বীকার করেন না। তারা একেও কর্ম কারক হিসেবেই গণ্য করেন। কর্মকারক ও সম্প্রদান কারকের বৈশিষ্ট্যও একই। কেবল স্বত্ব ত্যাগ করে দান করার ক্ষেত্রে কর্মকারক হিসেবে গণ্য না করে কর্মপদটিকে সম্প্রদান কারক হিসেবে গণ্য করা হয়।

সম্প্রদান কারকে দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তির বদলে চতুর্থী বিভক্তি যুক্ত হয়। চতুর্থী বিভক্তি আর কোথাও যুক্ত হয় না। অর্থাৎ, ‘কে/ রে’ বিভক্তি দুটি সম্প্রদান কারকের সঙ্গে থাকলে তা চতুর্থী বিভক্তি। অন্য কোন কারকের সঙ্গে থাকলে তা দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তি।

তবে কোথাও নিমিত্তার্থে ‘কে’ বিভক্তি যুক্ত হলে তা চতুর্থী বিভক্তি হয়। যেমন- বেলা যে পড়ে এল, জলকে চল। (নিমিত্তার্থে চতুর্থী বিভক্তি)

উদাহরণ-

ভিখারিকে ভিক্ষা দাও। (কাকে দান করা হল? ভিখারিকে।) : সম্প্রদান কারকে চতুর্থী বিভক্তি

অসহায়কে খাদ্য দাও। (কাকে দান করা হল? অসহায়কে।) : সম্প্রদান কারকে চতুর্থী বিভক্তি

অন্ধজনে দেহ আলো, মৃতজনে দেহ প্রাণ। (কাকে দান করা হল? অন্ধজনে।): সম্প্রদান কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

সমিতিতে চাঁদা দাও। (কাকে দান করা হল? সমিতিতে।)   : সম্প্রদান কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

অপাদান কারক

যা থেকে কোন কিছু গৃহীত, বিচ্যুত, জাত, বিরত, আরম্ভ, দূরীভূত, রক্ষিত, ভীত হয়, তাকে অপাদান কারক বলে।

অর্থাৎ, অপাদান কারক থেকে কোন কিছু বের হওয়া বোঝায়।

‘কি হতে বের হল’ প্রশ্নের উত্তরই অপাদান কারক।

উদাহরণ-

গাছ থেকে পাতা পড়ে। (কি হতে বের হল/ পড়ল? গাছ থেকে): অপাদান কারকে পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি

শুক্তি থেকে মুক্তি মেলে। (কি হতে বের হল? শুক্তি থেকে) : অপাদান কারকে পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি

জমি থেকে ফসল পাই। (কি হতে বের হল? জমি থেকে)   : অপাদান কারকে পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি

দেশ থেকে হায়েনারা চলে গেছে। (কি হতে বের হল? দেশ থেকে):অপাদান কারকে পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি

বিপদ থেকে বাঁচাও। (কি হতে বাঁচাও? বিপদ হতে)         : অপাদান কারকে পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি

বাঘকে ভয় পায় না কে? (কি হতে ভয় বের হল? বাঘ হতে): অপাদান কারকে দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তি

মনে পড়ে সেই জৈষ্ঠ্যের দুপুরে পাঠশালা পলায়ন। (কি হতে বের হল/ পলায়ন? পাঠশালা হতে) : অপাদান কারকে শূণ্য বিভক্তি

বাবাকে বড্ড ভয় পাই। (কি হতে ভয় বের হয়? বাবা হতে): অপাদান কারকে দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তি

তিনি চট্টগ্রাম থেকে এসেছেন। (কি হতে বের হয়েছেন/ এসেছেন? চট্টগ্রাম হতে): অপাদান কারকে পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি

বিমান থেকে বোমা ফেলা হয়েছিলো। (কি হতে বের হল/ ফেলা হল? বিমান হতে): অপাদান কারকে পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি

অধিকরণ কারক

ক্রিয়া সম্পাদনের কাল এবং আধারকে (সময় এবং স্থানকে) অধিকরণ কারক বলে।

ক্রিয়াকে ‘কোথায়/ কখন/ কী বিষয়ে’ দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায়, তাই অধিকরণ কারক।

উদাহরণ-

পুকুরে মাছ আছে। (কোথায় আছে? পুকুরে)         : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

বনে বাঘ আছে। (কোথায় আছে? বনে)                      : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

ঘাটে নৌকা বাঁধা আছে। (কোথায় বাঁধা আছে? ঘাটে)        : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

রাজার দুয়ারে হাতি বাঁধা। (কোথায় বাঁধা? দুয়ারে)   : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

সকালে সূর্য ওঠে। (কখন ওঠে? সকালে)                    : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

এ বাড়িতে কেউ নেই। (কোথায় কেউ নেই? বাড়িতে)      : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

নদীতে পানি আছে। (কোথায় আছে? নদীতে)               : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

রবিন অঙ্কে কাঁচা। (কী বিষয়ে কাঁচা? অঙ্কে)          : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

সজিব ব্যাকরণে ভাল। (কী বিষয়ে কাঁচা? ব্যাকরণে)        : অধিকরণ কারকে সপ্তমী বিভক্তি

ঘরের মধ্যে কে রে? (কোথায়? ঘরে)                         : অধিকরণ কারকে অনুসর্গ মধ্যে

বাড়ি থেকে নদী দেখা যায়। (কোথায় থেকে দেখা যায়? বাড়ি থেকে):অধিকরণে পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি*

• শেষ উদাহরণটিতে নদী বাড়ি থেকে বের হয়নি, তাই এটি অপাদান কারক নয়। নদী বাড়ি থেকেই দেখা যায়। অর্থাৎ, ক্রিয়াটি বাড়িতেই ঘটছে, তাই এটি অধিকরণ কারক।

অপাদান-অধিকরণ কারকের পার্থক্য

অপাদান ও অধিকরণ কারক আলাদা করতে গিয়ে অনেকেরই সমস্যা হয়। অপাদান ও অধিকরণ কারককে আলাদা করে চেনার সহজ উপায় হলো, অপাদান কারক থেকে কোন কিছু বের হয় বোঝায়। আর অধিকরণ কারকের মাঝেই ক্রিয়া সম্পাদিত হয়।

যেমন- ‘তিলে থেকে তেল হয়’ আর ‘তিলে তেল আছে’।

প্রথম বাক্যে তিলের ভেতর ক্রিয়া সংঘটিত হয়নি। বরং তিল থেকে তেল বের হওয়ার কথা বোঝাচ্ছে।

আর দ্বিতীয় বাক্যে তিলের ভেতরই তিল থাকার কথা বলছে। এই ‘আছে’ ক্রিয়াটি তিলের ভেতরে থেকেই কাজ করছে।

কারক ও বিভক্তি মনে রাখার কৌশল

কারক ৬ প্রকার:
১. কর্তৃকারক;
২. কর্মকারক;
৩. করণকারক;
৪. সম্প্রদান কারক;
৫. অপাদান কারক; এবং
৬. অধিকরণ কারক।

১।কর্তৃকারক: যে কাজ করে সেই কর্তা বা
কর্তকারক।
যেমন: আমি ভাত খাই।
বালকেরা মাঠে ফুটবল খেলছে।
এখানে মনে রাখার উপায় হচ্ছে ‘কে’ বা
‘কারা’ দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে যে উত্তর
পাওয়া যায়, সেটিই কর্তা বা কর্তৃকারক।
কে ভাত খায়?
উত্তর হচ্ছে আমি।
কারা ফুটবল খেলছে?
উত্তর হচ্ছে-বালকেরা।
তাহলে আমি এবং বালকেরা হচ্ছে
কর্তৃকারক।

২। কর্মকারক: কর্তা যাকে অবলম্বন করে
কার্য সম্পাদন করে সেটাই কর্ম বা
কর্মকারক।
যেমন: আমি ভাত খাই।
হাবিব সোহলকে মেরেছে।
এখানে মনে রাখার উপায় হচ্ছে ‘ কি’ বা
‘কাকে’ দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে যে উত্তর
পাওয়া সেটিই কর্ম বা কর্মকারক।
আমি কি খাই?
উত্তর হচ্ছে-ভাত।
হাবিব কাকে মেরেছে?
উত্তর হচ্ছে-সোহেলকে।
৩। করণ কারক: ক্রিয়া সম্পাদনের যন্ত্র বা
উপকরণ বুঝায়।
যেমন: নীরা কলম দিয়ে লেখে।
সাধনায় সিদ্ধি লাভ হয়।
এখানে মনে রাখার উপায় হচ্ছে ‘ কীসের
দ্বারা’ বা ‘কী উপায়ে’ দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে
যে উত্তর পাওয়া যায় সেটিই করণ কারক।
নীরা কীসের দ্বারা লেখে?
উত্তর হচ্ছে-কলম ।
কী উপায়ে বা কোন উপায়ে কীর্তিমান
হওয়া যায়?
উত্তর হচ্ছে-সাধনায়।
৪। সম্প্রদান কারক: স্বত্ব ত্যাগ করে দান
বা অর্চনা বুঝালে সম্প্রদান কারক হয়।
স্বত্ব ত্যাগ না করলে কর্মকারক।
যেমন: ভিক্ষারীকে ভিক্ষা দাও।
গুরুজনে কর নতি।
মনে রাখার উপায় হচ্ছে-কর্মকারকের মত
কাকে দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে রে উত্তর
পাওয়া যায়।

তবে এখানে স্বত্ব থাকবেনা। যেমন মানুষ
ভিক্ষারীকে দান করে কোন স্বত্ব
ছাড়াই যাকে বলে নি:শর্ত ভাবে। আবার
গুরুজনকে মানুষ সম্মান করে কোন স্বার্থ
ছাড়াই।
৫। অপাদান কারক: হতে, থেকে বুঝালে
অপাদান কারক হবে।
যেমন: গাছ থেকে পাতা পড়ে।
পাপে বিরত হও।
এখাছে কোথা থেকে পাতা পড়ে?
উত্তর হচ্ছে-গাছ ।
কি হতে বিরত হও?
উত্তর হচ্ছে – পাপ ।

৬। অধিকরণ কারক: ক্রিয়ার সম্পাদনের
সময় বা স্থানকে অধিকরণ কারক বলে।
যেমন: আমরা রোজ স্কুলে যাই।
প্রভাতে সূর্য ওঠে।
মনে রাখার উপায় হচ্ছে-
কোথায় এবং কখন দিয়ে প্রশ্ন করলে যে
উত্তর পাওয়া যায়।
আমরা রোজ কোথায় যাই?
উত্তর হচ্ছে-স্কুলে। আর স্কুল একটি স্থান।
কখন সূর্য ওঠে?
উত্তর হচ্ছে-প্রভাতে। আর প্রভাত একটি
কাল বা সময়।
বিভক্তি মনে রাখার উপায়:
বাংলায় বিভক্তি সাত প্রকার।
প্রথমা বিভক্তি: অ এবং ০ ।
দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তি: কে এবং রে ।
তৃতীয়া বিভক্তি: দ্বারা, দিয়া এবং
কর্তৃক ।

চতুথী বিভক্তি: দ্বিতীয়া বিভক্তির মত
তবে নিমিত্ত বা জন্য বুঝাবে।
পঞ্চমী বিভক্তি: হতে, থেকে এবং চেয়ে
।
ষষ্ঠী বিভক্তি: র এবং এর ।
সপ্তমী বিভক্তি: এ, য় ,তে থাকে।
